Caribbean Stud Poker Tips
In this section we will give you a couple of Caribbean Poker tips
that will help you to maximize your chances of winning, or more
accurately to minimize your chances of losing. There are no Caribbean
Stud secrets, tricks or systems. All Caribbean Stud Poker tips discussed
here are derived from plain common sense.
Your maximum Caribbean Poker bet
Some casinos have a maximum set on the Call bet payout. Let's say
a Royal Flush pays out 100 to 1 (standard), and that the maximum is
set at $8,000. If you bet $100 on your Call bet and you win, you will
be paid 100 x $100 = $10,000. Unfortunately this is not true. You
will only be paid $8,000 because that's the maximum set by the casino.
That's a loss of $2,000 while you thought you were winning. You can
avoid this by only betting the maximum set by the casino divided by
the odds on the Royal Flush, in this case $8,000 / 100 = $80. Please
note that this applies to the Call bet. The Call bet is always twice
the amount of the Ante bet, meaning you should not let your Ante bet
exceed $40 in this example.
The progressive Side bet is a bad bet
While winning the Caribbean Poker jackpot can be fun, it must be noted
that the $1 progressive side bet is not a bet you want to make too
often, because of the rather high house edge that comes with it. Only
make it when the jackpot is very high.
Try to be seated directly to the left of the dealer
If two players win the progressive jackpot at the *same* time, the
jackpot is usually split between the two. In some casinos though,
the player sitting to the left of the dealer gets the whole jackpot,
The other player also wins, but only an amount equal to the reset
value of the jackpot. If you are playing Caribbean Poker in a casino
that has this rule in place, then always try to be seated directly
to the left of the dealer.
Use a good Caribbean Poker strategy when deciding to fold or to call
You probably know you have to Call if you're holding a Pair or higher,
and that you need to Fold when you're holding less than an Ace/King.
A good Caribbean Poker strategy will tell you also what you need to
do when you're holding an Ace/King. In our Caribbean
Stud Poker strategy section we discuss three strategies you can
use to make that decision.
Know you pay tables
Pay tables differ from one casino to another, and even between tables
in the same casino. This can be true for both the Call bet pay table,
as well as the progressive Side bet table. Play Caribbean Stud with
the best pay table you can get. Please refer to our Caribbean
Stud Poker Pay Table section, for a discussion about the differences
between standard and non-standard pay tables.
Don't share information about your hand with other players
While player collusion might give you an edge if done properly, if
the casino finds out you will be escorted to the exit in no time.
So don't even try. |
